The Soltador Cruiser marked an unusual move for Hamann Motorsport, a German tuner
better known for modifying cars. Presented at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, this blacked-
out custom motorcycle combined a large S&S Evolution-style V-twin with a purpose-
built chassis, a single-sided rear swingarm and unusually wide 18-inch wheels.

## A low, mechanical silhouette

Its design is built around visual mass. The fuel tank, side panels and seat form
a compact upper line, while the exposed engine and sweeping exhaust headers leave
the center of the motorcycle visually busy without making it look cluttered. Gold-
colored details on the engine, brake calipers and wheel hardware provide measured
contrast against the predominantly black finish.

The rear of the bike is especially distinctive. A broad rear tire sits beneath a
closely shaped fender, and the single-sided swingarm leaves the inner face of the
wheel and belt-drive layout on display. That arrangement is more than a styling
flourish: it makes the wheel, brake hardware and final-drive components part of
the motorcycle’s presentation.

## Reported engine specification

According to the period description attributed to Motoblog.it, the Soltador used
a 113-cubic-inch, approximately 1,900cc S&S Evolution-style engine. The reported
preparation included machined heads and valve seats, revised camshafts and a throttle
body enlarged from 38mm to 60mm. The same account quoted an output of 160 horsepower.

Those figures describe the specification reported at the time rather than an independently
verified test result. A Harley-Davidson six-speed gearbox was also listed, paired
with an exposed NH Power belt primary drive. The uncovered primary gives the left
side of the motorcycle a strong industrial focal point and reinforces the build’s
emphasis on visible hardware.

## Chassis choices that define the build

Hamann’s own frame and single-sided swingarm do most of the work in separating the
Soltador from a conventional cruiser. The front end is long and visually substantial,
while the low seat and compact tank keep the rider’s position close to the center
of the machine. The result is a stance that reads as muscular rather than traditionally
touring-oriented.

The reported wheel sizes were 4.5×18 inches at the front and 10×18 inches at the
rear, fitted with 130/60 and 280/35 tires respectively. That combination creates
the Soltador’s defining proportion: a relatively narrow front contact patch set
against an exceptionally wide rear tire. It also gives the custom wheel design plenty
of visual area, particularly at the back where the single-sided layout exposes the
rim.

## A show bike built around its details

From the sculpted bodywork to the machined engine components, the Soltador Cruiser
is presented as a complete design exercise rather than a lightly accessorized production
motorcycle. Its most convincing features are the ones that connect appearance and
structure—the open primary drive, the exposed rear wheel and the frame designed
specifically for the chosen engine and proportions.

[German tuner Hamann Motorsport is mostly known for its work on cars, But in the 2013 Geneva Motor Show they did not show up with just their usual roundup of nicely equipped 4-wheelers as there was an equally exclusive custom bike among them: meet the mean and outstanding Soltador Cruiser. The model has been created around a 113 cubic inch (about 1900 cc) S&S Evolution Style engine with machined heads and valve seats, modified camshafts and throttle body that went up from 38 to 60 mm to bring its total output up to an impressive 160 hp! This unit comes with a 6-speed gearbox from Harley-Davidson and exposed NH Power belt primary drive. The overall aesthetics of this model are quite typical of the German school – in the same vein of some well-known names such as Kodlin and Walz, so to speak – and uses several parts that have been specifically developed for this model, most notably the frame, that captivating single-sided swingarm and the impactful, anodized Edition Race rims, measuring 4.5×18″ and 10×18″ and fitted with 130/60 and 280/35 tires respectively.
